I am a multidisciplinary artist primarily engaged in photography, video, installation, and performance. My artistic exploration centers around themes such as memory, place, history, time, and the body.
My creative process typically begins with spoken and photographed family archives serving as a rich foundation, representing facets of identity, migration, mystery, and collective memory. Utilizing this archive I delve into the dual nature of photography—both revealing and concealing. At times, the archive is raw material, while at other times, it becomes a conceptual starting point. I often revisit significant places from the past, balancing documentation, preservation, and intervention.
Through the accumulation of actions and images, my work delves into the intricate relationships between a place and the body, history and the place, and the reciprocal influences they exert on each other. Exploring how these influences interact with personal and collective memory compels me.
My artistic method is characterized by repetition and accumulation. I employ the repetition of operations in diverse locations and through various approaches. Whether quoting images, gestures, or actions from the family archive, my intention is to scrutinize the past through a contemporary lens and vice versa.
